It's a wave, moments before it starts to break; you can see a tiny hint of a crest in the right corner of the picture. The sun is behind the wave and shining through it so you can see clear through, and there's no reflections off the surface because this side of the wave is in the shade.

Holy shit that's freaky. I have a slight fear of the ocean (Mainly because of it's depth) and other large bodies of water, but only when I swim in them. If I'm on a boat or just near the water, I'm fine...I mean, I'll swim in lakes sometimes, but only for short/medium periods of time. The same thing goes with rollercoasters, where I can only ride 2 or 3 in the span of 2 hours without feeling freaked out (I have a pretty big fear of heights).
