So should i buy sx os or sx pro or should I use atmosphere?

Basically i am going to use switch for playing backups offline. I dont need any emulators or other homebrew.

What do you guys think?

Sx os or sx pro if you want it now, atmosphere if you're willing to wait a few months.

You can use either for backups, but note that if you ever go online for updates/buying DLC, you will probably get banned immediately. If you wait for Atmosphere, you'll get emunand and still be able to go online. Plus, mememenu will probably be released then, which is probably more desirable than the SX.

Sx os or pro. Atmosphere is probably going to take a long while and even if it's release getting back ups to work on it is going to be another long wait.

What exactly do you mean by this? Iirc, SX OS doesn't allow you to download it and just install it. That's why I said to wait for Atmosphere and mememenu, as then you'll be able to install them directly along with updates/DLC.

I'd wait for Atmosphere if I was you. That's what I'm doing and my patience doubled thanks to ability to run some backups with LayeredFS.

You can update sx os backups on cfw and ofw without any problem

The best part is actually you don't really have to chose. If you go with SX OS, you can still go with Atmosphere later. And if you're curious and want to go now, SX OS is there for you.
