Hacking Just bought a PS3 ~ 3.30 firmware ~ update or not?

Hi all,

So I bought a PS3 Slim with 3.30 firmware. I read that 3.41 (or something like that) is the latest firmware... Now, should I update my console before Sony manage to block out the Jailbreak Jig in the next update?

Or should I leave it as is?

I am not so sure about the pros and cons of each firmware revision, and any advice is greatly appreciated...

For having a lot of posts on here, ya don't read much do ya? lol. All the Jailbreak threads says that 3.41 is what they use. So update, however I'd wait until the devices actually come out.

You can't go online unless you update. Also, if you're planning to use the jailbreak released, it doesn't matter if you update to the latest current, since it works on it (although you will get banned from PSN for using it, unless you never go online).

I thought they would work with anything up to 3.41



I just worry that I may lose some features if I update, ie. like the Linux thing (which I can't use anyway, but maybe I loose AVI file support or something like this)


BTW ~ I don't need to go online anyway, so this doesn't bother me either way

Update. It's almost pointless to have a PS3 with no online.

No real interest.
I grew up playing single player Saturn games, I don't really care for multiplayer games.

And I also wanted the PS3 to play AVIs etc on my TV...
That's pretty much it.

And, I also figured that it's now or never. The next batch of PS3s, I am quite sure, will not work with the exploit.

the main reason i want a psjailbreak/clone is for ac 1 & 2 which has a shit-load of graphical glitches during gameplay for me due to my phat having a pretty gay disk drive

Damn modern consoles and their flakey lasers.

My Sega Saturn and Dreamcast still run @ 100% with no dead lasers... Anything recent, however, seems to be plagued by laser problems..

to be fair, it may be a sony issue

phat ps2s had a few probs iirc and some of the psx consoles had cheap plastic parts in the drives that led to them failing from average use too
