Hardware Joycons do not seem to register as proper axis controls on PC. (PS4 Dualshock compared to Joycon.)

I just beat BotW, and was going back to replay Dark Souls 3, when it occured to me that the joycons would be great to use on the computer instead of my DS4.
The joycons pair to PC and work easily, but they joysticks do not actually register axis controls.
I can't seem to find a way around this.

They register as hat switches instead (typically used for dpad), and currently no fix for that afaik

Ah, that's what I was seeing in JoyToKey, but I wasn't sure if it was because I had them set up wrong somewhere or if there was another program recommended for them.

That's extremely disappointing, the joycons are extremely comfortable and typically a joy to use. The DS4 just feels bulky after so many hours of Zelda.
I suppose I'll get used to it again.
