I actually just recently replaced my left joycon rail for similar reasons. Very cheap and relatively easy to do. The left rail requires disassembling almost the entire system though unless you want to try and thread the ribbon cable.
Both my left joycon and switch rail had corroded pins. Not entirely sure why though.
I also bought a hori joycon to replace my dysfunctional one cuz I'm cheap and wanted a dpad.
I could probably clean the contacts on the joycon, but at this moment, too lazy to open up it up to get at the pins.
