I've had my switch since launch and I've noticed my joy con right D-Pad works but I really have to tap hard in order for it to work. Is that part of the controls design kinda like the 3D Touch on an iPhone 6S. like I don't mind its kinda cool but a little annoying at the same time. There was a point where I thought the joy con broke completely but I just had to tap hard lol

Open a RMA with Nintendo to get it repaired because it should not do that

Call Nintendo, let them run you through trouble shooting, and then they will set up an RMA for you with a UPS label.
