At least, that's how I understand it. If you could explain a bit about the game I'd be able to give you a better translation.

When people say that kanji makes things difficult, I have to disagree. On the contrary, I prefer more kanji. The problem with the katakana word 「カン」 (kan) is that without the kanji it's impossible to tell what the word means if there's no context to go on. "kan" has multiple meanings, like "crown (冠)," "intuition (勘)," "can (缶)," "tree trunk (幹)," etc. But since "filling a tree trunk" doesn't make sense, "can" is my best guess.

The word "container" could also be "vessel."

Edit: But as densetsu says, translating without a context to translate within is really hard, and a lot of guesswork.
Same with english. "Shoot at an angel" for instance, has 2 meanings depending on context.

In that case ? would probably best be translated as "device."
