It's almost the end of 2013. What is your GOTY?

It's all the fun of Far Cry 3 with the insanity and humor cranked up to 11. Add in the year's best soundtrack and yeah, there's no contest. Playing Blood Dragon is like mainlining fun and neon in their purest forms.

You're certainly welcome to disagree, of course, but you'd be wrong and should be ashamed.

I have not really played that many games this year ( http://gbatemp.net/threads/the-nongaming-postgaming-gamer.350157/ ) and much of what I have been playing I will probably not remember quite so well in a decade.

On the other hand roguelike elements is now a thing and I could not be happier. I have played a few along these lines now.

That said a quick scan of what came out this year says not an awful lot and not an awful lot if I downplay sequels. Hopefully GTA 5 will get a couple of expansion packs a la GTA 4.

To that end no GOTY pending me actually playing several games.

For me it would be Dishonored, I know it's a 2012 game originally but the GotY edition just came out and that is when I played it.
It would have been GTAV but too much was cut for Online only.
For handhelds it would be Killzone Mercenary, amazing game.

Not sure if it counts since it was not released this year, but I started playing osu! January 2013 and that's easily my GOTY.

Hmm...a few decent choices this year. GTA 5 got me back into the series after I lost interest post Vice City and was a massive game, great value, fantastic humour, etc. The Last Of Us was the game that got me right in the feels the most, even if from a gameplay perspective it was fairly linear and honestly a little basic for my tastes. I've not played Bioshock Infinite yet though which I'm told is basically the game world's crack cocaine, so it'd be remiss of me to pass judgement until I've examined all of the major contenders.

It might be weird , but... Metal Gear Rising : Revengeance wins my GOTY. The Last of Us was pretty good too, but it disappointed me in more aspects than MGR.

Well, my 3 most played games this year are LoL, Osu and War Thunder(awesome game, BTW), all of which were released before 2013...so, I guess Animal Crossing: New Leaf?

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
