I know there exists cheat codes that will allow you to use a Classic Controller in games that normally don't support it. You can read up about what codes exist here (https://gbatemp.net/threads/which-games-have-classic-controller-hacks.321713/). Not sure if something similar exists for GameCube controllers though.
