I intend to buy an OLED Switch modchip. This seller seems reputable. I can't link to the listing because I'm new but will post a screenshot of it instead. I've got a few questions to ask.

Will this modchip overvolt any components in my OLED Switch?
Is there any reason to believe this modchip may be DOA?

I wouldnt get that one. They just dropped to $83 on ali and the other oled model is best.

Looks like they added the adapter from the other version and its optional.

What exactly does the optional adapter do? The one you screenshoted is only $10 AUD cheaper. Are these already flashed with Spacecraft-NX?

The adapter if not lined up will just give you a headache. Like I said $83 us is cheapest currently and that was just a quick search I posted. Both will work but the one I posted is the best. Yeah they come pre flashed.

Don't listen to what they say, the "v4.1" chip only makes sense if you are installing it on a lite. If you are modding an oled, stick with v4.
Btw this adapter is shit. They used to include it with unflashable "v3" oled chips, very hard to align properly and it puts stress on your fragile A and D pads. Just don't buy it.

I have one question left. I read some reports that certain modchips supply a higher voltage on one contact and it wears down a certain component on the OLED Switch over time. Does this apply to the Hwfly 4.0 OLED modchip?

Get oled chip and don't have to worry about that anymore.

Forget about that v4.1 chip. They already rolled out v4.2 and this time they specifically said it's for switch lite. Here's their shop on taobao, v4.1 is nowhere to be seen.

In short, get hwfly oled v4 if you are modding an oled. Get core v4 if you are modding a v2 mariko. Get their latest v4.2 if you are modding a lite. Don't get the unfalshable version just to save a few bucks, it's really not worth it.

Also, found this abomination on taobao when searching for hwfly chips.. I just don't get it why they are so obsessed with ribbon cables.

Are most people really lifting their emmc to fit the new dat0 board?
IMO friction fit should be secure enough, if it's installed properly. I've done like 20 installs on oled by now and only have to rework on 2 consoles. Also you don't have to completely remove the emmc chip to solder the adapter, apply some low temperature solder to the contact on the adapter then reflow the emmc chip, that should solder the adapter to dat0 solder ball. sthetix made a video about reflowing the emmc chip, you can check his video for more information.

damn those emmc adapters looks scary, but probably the best option
I think that green adapter is a total flop, they don't sell it in their taobao website anymore. Would be a fun experience trying to solder that thing in with bga on both sides. They only sell it on aliexpress now so I guess they are just clearing their stock. The purple adapter with the stupid ribbon cable is from another seller on taobao.
