Is this safe?, of course, not legal wise, but is this okay to use?

    EXTRA:
Does it work on DS lite (high priority)
Does it work on NN3DS (low priority, but wanted)

    Picture is broken

Any slot-1 flashcard works on original and Lite
Any slot-1 flashcard designed after approx 2014 works on any 2/3/DS/i

Most flashcards sold more or less stealthily on mainstream sites are shit quality (aka r4isdhc.com or clones)

The one with a gold and blue box? Yeah, an r4isdhc.com "gold" (intentional soundalike of a more reputable r4ids.cn model)

Yes: for how long (between timebombs in the official kernel, and poor build quality) is a separate question

That, as better documented in many other topics, means the official kernel will refuse to run after a certain date: this means that you can, either:
    - get a newer kernel (if they bother to make one)
    - get a patched kernel to remove the limitation (if someone made one)
    - get an unofficial kernel like YSMenu that doesn't have this bullshit
    - change the date on your console and live with inaccuracies in all time-based games
    - dodge the issue and not reward bad business practices by buying a more serious flashcard the first time ;)

i think the currently best accepted one is the R4i Gold 3DS Plus.
i bought mine somewhat recently and it seems to be working out well for me personally.

The "good value" DS flashcard has been for a few years the r4ids.cn - this one, which runs the acclaimed in compatibility Wood kernel (from a trusted Chinese website): https://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575 - and I can personally recommend it :)

Other respectable cards like the original R4* (non-SDHC, unbrickable), the Acekard 2i* (Wood is actually based on this card's AKAIO kernel, can be used simultaneously as a 3DS recovery tool and a flashcard), the DSTWO (premium product, excellent compatibility, high price) are all sold out by now

    * these nominally don't work on a fully updated 3DS/DSi, however if your console has a CFW it can unlock pretty much every older flashcard in one way or another - the "after 2014" I said before applies to unmodified consoles

I believe the Acekard 2i is the best due to it not needing to be reflashed after using it for ntrboot

So basically when hacking a 3ds you can use a lot of various flashcarts (not all but a lot). it requires you flash the card to have another function and after you succesfully hack your 3ds you need to reflash the card back to a normal flashcart. The Acekard 2i doesn't need to do this as it has a switch to switch between the two iirc

R4i Gold is a great card too. I just feel like for some people the Acekard 2i might be better suited

the one i mentioned has a switch inside of the card itself to swap between standard function and ntrboot.
slightly more inconvenient i guess, but you shouldn't really be using ntrboot all the time anyways right?
