Is there a step by step how to with those? I'm not very good at this stuff, so I've been sticking with what I know.

Both PKHeX and PKSM have explanations on how to use them in their release pages. PKSM is the simplest one to use, but can't edit everything, while PKHeX can do anything you could want to, still simple to use though.

Gave the PKHex a try, and it worked fine. Very straightforward, which is good for a noob like me.

My pkhex cannot load the savefile that i made with Checkpoint, the savefile name is "main".
