Yeah, the Acekard is updated by running a file on the DS itself from the micro SD (the language fix is one example), whereas the SuperCard is put into a USB adaptor which draws power from your USB port, and runs a file from the micro SD. So basically, they both update the same way except the Acekard uses the DS's power, and the SuoerCard uses your PC's power. No data is actually transferred over USB, just power.

The updates themselves, we're not suer. Nintendo may never block flashcarts with a firmware update (it may not be possible, as it could block normal games as well), and if they do we don't know if flashcart manufactorers can or will release some sort of patch/update to unblock the flashcart.

Maybe that was a little overkill, but oh well.

Yep no one really knows. At this point we're just waiting for Nintendo to release 1.4...we're waiting on Nintendo to do alot of things cause right now in alot of aspects of the DSi we can't move forward until Nintendo makes it's next move.

Wait for the M3i Zero (just announced today) coming in about a week. That's what I'm getting. It has an updateable kernel, updateable firmware (users can update it to their liking as well), and updateable boot flash! It can is 99% block proof.

What makes you think the M3i updatable kernel makes it 99% block proof?

DSi flashcarts needed different hardware to make them work (rather than just updated kernel) so I see no reason why Nintendo might not feasibly make an update that could do the same. And the Acekard 2i has an updatable kernel, it's just that team acekard are less inclined to update it.

I'd still recommend getting an AK2i, it will play all DS games for the forseeable future, and is much cheaper than any competitors.

The whole reason they had to make newer flashcarts for the DSi is because the older flashcarts didn't have updateable kernels and boot loaders thus giving the flashcart developers no option other than to create a whole new cart.

I dont see any problems with EZ Flash Vi except for the GUI. I found no problems with contacts or bricking. Too bad I wont be there to buy the Acekard 2i as I'll stay home while my mom will be the one going to manila and buy me a flashcart. I already told the store but that store is selling EZ Flash Vi and if I want an Acekard 2i, she'll have to search for the store herself. If only my dad was not so strict then I can go

I'm surprised noone mentions that the development of akaio is discontinued (at least to my knowledge) so future updates are at least questionable. and as everybopy mentioned the official firmware isn't really good.
On top of this, seeing that the akaio team supported the official akaio FW developers with technical know-how (e.g. the last made in ore patch) one could speculate that the discontinuation of akaio could also affect the official FW releases...

If m3I will be released, m3I will be the best.
Because we all want to buy from a company that makes fake R4s.

ShatteredScreens read the f*cking news post on GBAtemps front page:

The cat's out of the bag now! The M3 Team have today announced that they are developing and will now be supporting a new range of R4i carts. This is an official take-over, and is not just a case of slapping the famous R4 branding on the new packages. Wondered why they delayed the M3 Zero? Now you know...

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5
