That's dumb. Not solution at all, cause graphite dust is still there, packing somewhere at the edges. It will become a shit mess in a short time.They are replaceable, but I personally do recommend contact cleaner. Preferably, get wd 40 Contact cleaner and a little vial with sealed twist on cap and a dull syringe. Fill the vial with contact spray, use syringe to deposit just a single drop under the rubber flap. Less messy that way.
Swirl the stick a dozen times, let it sit to dry for a few minutes and you'll be good to go.
Repeat when necessary.
