i was thinking of buying a micro sd card that size but i'm not entirely sure if it's safe
i heard in another post that it was possible and i've seen a few threads in the vita hacking reddit about people getting them but i'm not 100% sure if it's safe so i wanted to ask here first

You can safely use at least up to at least 1tb, Just make sure to not cheap out and go with a known brand!

yes, either my vita or pstv has a 512GB micro sd; the other has a 400GB one. they were hand me downs from the switch after I got 1TB micro sd cards for all three of mine. I have a lot of free space on both.

I only have about 128GBs used up on each, so it's a waste of space. seems like half the vita library is ps3 ports or something, so there's not a lot worth getting. that's probably another reason the system failed so badly.

Isn't a 512gb overkill? I think I have over 100 vita games and 60 PSP games on my vita on a 256gb and I didn''t fill it up
@Goku1992A ,100 Vita games in 256GB and you have not filled it? With not even 50 games and i don't know how many PSP games(i didn't count them)+ various emulators, only have 118GB free on a 256GB sdcard.

Vita games can vary wildly in size, with so much of the library being indies since retail utterly collapsed for the system. You can easily fit hundreds of those sub-1gb games.

You can use 512GB or even 1TB if you properly set it up correct, depending what size card you are coming from to the 512GB, vita games typically are in the 1GB to 4GB range so depends on how much you want to install and play, no point of installing a bunch of games then not playing them.

base game can't be larger than 4GBs, I found that out from a friend. it's a stipulation by sony, but updates and dlc can exceed that if you count both together.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

supposedly, that's why I think the Japanese voices aren't on the world of final fantasy cart and must be downloaded. it exceeds that limit.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I just checked, and it looks like it's voice overs in general. both English and Japanese must be downloaded.

@godreborn ,currently there are games with 1.5GB DLC type SD Gundam G Generation Genesis Jap,which the 3.6GB base game will pass the 5GB of memory space occupied.

I know, but the base game can't exceed 4GBs. dlc and updates are irrelevant.
@godreborn ,ok but if checked information holding down the game bubble,it shows you the entire volume of the game,so you can have 100 games installed that take up little memory space or have less than 100 and have full memory here, depending on what kind of game you install.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
