I would like to use the save data manager on my genuine games, seeing as I can't do that with Gateway.
It should be possible to download the youtube app on my 9.2 console via eShop spoofing, but will it even run on 9.2 and under?
How about using a rom of Cubic Ninja, will that work?

Yes the youtube hax will work on 9.2 sysnand without the need of gateway once you install youtube via eshop spoof. You could also check out a cfw for your device for the times you need to use your legit game carts with save data filler and other apps.

Cool thanks.
Any idea if a rom of Cubic Ninja will work too?

If you use a cfw like rxtools and you enter devmode you could run ninjhax 1.1 and 2.1 on a cubic ninja cia. If you are going to use ninjhax 2 it will work on gateway mode but I'm not sure if save manager will read the game cart. It will be nice to test it. I recommend using a cfw or youtube hax on vanilla sysnand.

TubeHax and NinjHax (with CN backup) should work with GW, AFAIK! IronHax (installed by .cia or directly run from GW) doesn't work, because IronFall only runs since 9.5 FW (and doesn't work with EmuNAND, I believe)... On the other side, many people considers that run "Homebrew Launcher" having 9.2 or less FW and GW/CFW alternatives is very unuseful.

It works with GW, but I have noticed that ever since I got IronHax working, executing GW and IronHax takes a few tries sometimes. Like it is not fully compatible with each other

Can you run IronHax on your 9.2 FW console?... How? (AFAIK, IronFall/IronHax only works on +9.5 FW SysNAND!... And not working over either GW or CFW/EmuNAND!)

N3DS XL 9.2 FW, run Gateway, then when in EmuNAND 9.2 load IronHax. Took me a while to get TubeHax initiated, but once I did, everything finally started working. But like I said, seems like ever since I got IronHax going, Gateway and Homebrew Loader executing have become kind of hit and miss at times.

But, did you install "IronFall Invasion" on your EmuNAND?

Edit: Well, I must apologize with all people on this thread, because my affirmation about IronHax and GW/CFW/EmuNAND issue... Definitelly I'm not completely sure if really works or doesn't.

Make sure you have the DNS Settings correct under EmuNAND, Enable WiFi, once you are sure you are connected, run the YouTube App with the correct TubeHax File in place, then it should show you on the Bottom Screen what Device/FW you are on. Select the one that fits your situation (Me N3DS 9.2FW), and it will DL and setup the correct File. Just be sure you have a Save File in place for IronFall first so TubeHax can place the Correct Exploit in it. Then right after it is done, you will have Homebrew Loader up and running.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
