Hacking Is it possible to update a USA firmware with an Europe retail game?

I didn't see this question around so I obliged myself to ask, please reply.

I bough a 3ds and its version sais 1.0.0-U, and I'm planning to get a retail game to update it's version to 4.5, that game is donkey kong contry returns 3d, however. I realized the game is in spanish, which means it's EUR region.

Will I be able to update my 3ds with this game or should I get an USA game?

The thing is I'm in Venezuela and getting games is difficult and really expensive.

Nope. You need a game from the same region as your console. The console is even region locked so you won't be able to play a game from a different region unless you use some region free app which I doubt you can in that firmware.
