Homebrew Is it possible to recompile DS homebrew as DSi applications for use with TMFH?

I've recently been trying to get all my homebrew on my DSi Home Menu, and I've tried MakeForwarder and TMFH. The MakeForwarder shortcut managed to start NDS-Bootstrap, but then it just spewed out an error message. TMFH wouldn't even make a shortcut. So, I dug through this forum and I found one comment in particular that sparked my interest.

In this thread (I'm unable to link 'cause I'm a New User), @JeffRuLz said:

"Old homebrew were compiled as DS roms. Modern homebrew are compiled as DSi roms. The home menu does not accept plain DS software."

To which @banjo2 replied:

"Could they be recompiled as DSi ROMs if you have the source?"

Could this be achievable? How easy would it be? Also, sorry if I'm asking really stupid questions. I'm quite new to the DS hacking scene.

Unfortunately even if the app is open source it's not as simple as just recompiling it. Devkitpro and libnds have changed so much throughout the years so it's almost certain that for an app that old you will need to rewrite parts of it to compile again.
And to make matters worse there are no good backups of old versions of libnds documents and examples to study off of (that I know of).

I would recommend trying the forwarder again, or just use Twilight Menu.
