Isnt it called "hardware emulation"?That's virtualization versus emulation. vWii uses hardware, emulation is software.

Exactly. So many idiots in one thread it's unbelievable. A system to emulate another system needs to be at least 50 times more powerful. Then it has to have serious time put in to make it work.this pages are so full of crap lol no one knows what an emulator even is and they keep saying the wiiu emulated the gc and it didint lol, nintendont is not an emulator at all, then the discussion of the gc vs ps2 lol.
just becuasea system is less powerfull does not mean its easier to emulate for the contrary look at n64,sega saturn and random consoles like 3d0 and atari jaguar, those system are way weaker than anything ps2 or gc related and yet you require a much beffier pc to even get games to playable speed lol, the ps2 was much more complex to emulate than the gc thats why you needed a better pc to run fullspeed but nowadays with the optimization ps2emus and dolphin have you dont need stuff so powerfull and tbh nintendo will probably release some gc remasters port the sourcecode of the gameitself into switch architeture and change stuff like analog triggers and hd textures and such.
PDG of Nintendo France says that they working on.there is no official confirmation of this, people heard a rumor and now state it as a fact lol.
and people forget the switch its less powerfull than the shield tv due to nintendo underclocked solutions, shirld tv has a 2.0 ghz quadcore cpu the switch ones are clocked at 1gb with memory controller of max 1.6ghz and the switch gpu even when docked is 768 wich is slower than shield tv using it a 1ghz so while they share the same "chipset" somewhat nintendo underclocked both the cpu and gpu, i even doubt dolphin would run at 60% speed on the switch tbh.Exactly. that is a PR response, they said the exact same thing for goldeney 64 for n64 VC since the wii and where is it? well nowhere lol.PDG of Nintendo France says that they working on.
SourceAnd it's interesting, you know, as consumers think back, the fondness and the memories shift. I joined the company as GameCube was ending its life. And as we look at the install base of the platform, certainly it's not one of our higher install base platforms. And yet it seems the talk now is all about how consumers are hoping that there's a GameCube virtual console, which I just find interesting.
Yes. Be skeptical all you want but it is possible (atleast, VC)
No, the Gamecube is just much more powerful than the PS2, just look at the facts. Don't always trust what other people say, especially not on the internet.
But those are spin-off, I don't see diamond, peral, black, white, black 2, or white 2.The NDS Pokemon titles say hello!
50 times? My PC is getting up there in age, but it can emulate everything that has a functional emulator available. I'd say it's maybe 8 times more powerful at the most than the "high-spec" systems it emulates.Exactly. So many idiots in one thread it's unbelievable. About the vid you linked-
1. The x1 ran dolphin at leas then 30 fps stable, at native resolution. The switch has afaik underclocked x1, so it will have even worse performance. The vc isnt magic, in fact, thats just a well made emulator. That cant mke magic happen. If ninty will make a gc vc, it probably will run only a few titles... the n64 didnt run welll on wiiu so dont expect much...
2. This vid is from b4 the launch, why do you believe it?
You're forgetting something! That seems possible taking into account Luigi's Mansion and Mario Sunshine require analogue triggers and the Switch doesn't have. So, it'd be a remake + remaster.

This handy little thing could hook up to the dock and remedy the issue. However, this would mean that the games could only be played in dock mode, which most people probably dont want.
that would still be not really portable... but I guess lots of games can bee played with non- analogue controller, mapped to pressing the analogue fully...Nintendo could release a USB-C version of this, with a normal USB cable also included

1. what will be different? - back then it was purely speculative about what the "nx" has inside. now we can open the switch and look at the component and see what it has. dont believe me? go see plooto, smea, ylw8 and others on twitter. or just go to ifixit. We don't have any confirmation yet about the Switch's chip. And the video is testing it using a Shield TV, so what would be different when doing the video after launch? Also, don't forget that Shield TV is running Android, which is not optimized for this, and Nintendo's custom OS will be much better. Not only that, but the emulator that Nintendo will use probably will be better than Dolphin Android currently is.

2. why nintendo's os will be much better? the dolphin is worked-on for the last decade (by hobbyists, but still) and even if, no software can make hardware faster...
the switch *is* underclocked to conserve battery power. I cant seem to remember the specifications, but it was underclocked to like 75% of the original clock rate. also think about it- why the shield tv isnt a tablet? they didnt think about putting a screen (thats pretty cheap) on top of their shield tv? maybe because less then 2 hours of gameplay isnt really portable? nintendo underclocks lots of their products' processors. thats a known fact and it happen not once before. why so surprised? and the "they made it" arguement is only partially true- think about it, even if they have all the engineers on the planet and all the knowledge - if its not strong enough it wont emulate, no matter how much you will optimize it. please, go search google and see things before you speakThe Switch's Tegra is not underclocked, on the contrary it's most likely OC'ed/boosted.
Plus, you don't take in account Dolphin dev's aren't from Ninty. Of course a custom emu will be slower than an official VC. But Nintendo made both the GC and the Switch, so the thing would be much more optimized.
