I have an iPhone 4s that I'm basically using as an iPod right now (has no SIM card) and it's really slow. It crashed a lot when I browse things and zoom in. Some games can't even run on it, so it's basically just a music device for me. I don't plan on ever using it as a phone because I'm using a ZTE phone my parents got me for free at some booth in Cosco and it does what it's supposed to do.
So, I've been looking into the iPod Touch. The 6th gen cost $199.00 as a starting price, which, tbh, is pretty cheap compared to other Apple tech. I kinda wanna try out some iOS games because some of them do look fun, but it's mainly going to be a device for music.

Soooooo, does anyone here have one? Would you say it's worth buying one? Are you happy with your purchase?

i mean it works as it should but tbh you could probably get an android device for around the same price which could still do far more

iPhone 5S carrier unlocked is a lot cheaper, and it's got the same specs more or less as a iPod Touch 6th generation.

You need to keep in mind a few things about the iPod touch:

- no expandable memory
- no mobile internet connection

Basically, if you plan to buy it just for music, $200 for 16GB and no way to use streaming music services on the go is a little lame.

I was thinking about the same thing earlier, a toss up between getting a new ipod touch or just seeing if it's possiable to get my old 4th gen touch repaired after it got smashed.

Assuming that the thing is even fixable - The lcd and touch screen are a writeoff, but because I've got no idea what fell one it to break it it's possiable that the circuit board inside might have been damaged too, can't really check since I haven't been able to find the cord for it to give it a charge - then it'll cost ~50 or so to repair.

About a hour later I said fuck it after I realized why I stopped using it - My phone, a old ZTE Paragon pos, can play music just fine and as a bonus it has a lot higher storage capacity because microsd cards.

Decided that I'll just put that money towards a better phone to replace the cheap one I've got now.

If you don't require a portable hi-fi you can use pretty much any Anroid phone with decent audio jack or bluetooth 4 capabilities. I use my Galaxy S5 Neo just because I don't have to carry a ton of stuff around and it works fine with the Google Music player and the Sennheiser app.

If it gets cockblocked from using the latest update by apple then no,unless you want a mobile raspberry pi that will eventually get jailbroken since it will be stuck on a specific firmware that can't go any higher.Im not shure about android devices but they seem 1billion times better due to the better performance.

Ayeee, parent bought me the Touch as a gift. Now I don't have to worry about spending money lool.
So far, I'm liking it.
It's slim, and light. I don't need music streaming apps since I only listen to music from games, anime, etc.
For wifi, maybe I can purchase a portable hotspot.
But yeah, it's pretty good so far. Not sure how long a 1030 mAh battery will last me, but with a battery pack, I think it'd last me a day.

It's decent, and it has a A8 processor(same as iPhone 6)

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
