Isn't it really a popular in Japenese games/anime ?

Iris in Megaman Battle Network 6
Iris in Phoenix Wright Trials and Tibulations 3
Iris apparently in some Pokemon anime/game aswell

any I missed ?

Seems weird for such name to appear this often.

Right, I don't think it's that common TBH. Besides do you know for sure those characters were actually called Iris in the original Japanese version and that it isn't just a localized name? I'm pretty sure most Phoenix Wright characters have different Japanese and English names. You should also check out Japanese names in credits sometimes. Certain names appear pretty often, I'm sure I've seen quite a few Takeshi's for example.

Edit- forgot it was also the name of an ancient Greek god, such things are fairly popular for names as well.
