You can either hard mod yourself and use that method to start the downgrade process

Otherwise, you will have to wait for another homebrew downgrade method. Which we really don't know how long that will take.
We won't have a homebrew downgrade method until we get and ARM9 kernel exploit. Software downgrading using an ARM11 exploit is permanantly patched.

There's always going to be a new exploit found, nothing is ever "permanently" patched out. It just going to take a long time or finding a different way around the patches.
So as of right now, the hard mod method is the only way around this.

Not for this. Software downgrading is impossible without an ARM9 kernel exploit (we've been using ARM11 kernel exploits for downgrading). The firmware contains a hard-coded list of minimum versions. The only way to downgrade is to backup the NAND and flash the 10.7 native_firm to it.
