I'd never use it properly, but it would be fun to be 'playing' on my 3DS when in fact i keep changing the channel my brother is trying to watch

Though saying that I tried a similar thing a long time ago with either my P900 or P910i but IR com ports were not designed for that sort of range so it didn't really work.

I should try with my N900 and see if a newer phone is any good at it.

If the eshop becomes closer to the appstores on android and icrap, then it will happen.
If the SDK is too expensive, no it won't.

Lol that's the first useful thing I see for the infrared. Ever since the 3DS came out I've been wondering what the hell that infrared port is even good for that can't be done better with wifi.
If that app happened I'd probably use it because my TV's remote is awful XD

It's for accessories... Think Guitar hero's grip for regular DS, or possibly for a 3rd party rumble...

Basically, a lot of developers were upset that the DSi lacks any means to hook up any sort of gadget to so Nintendo did this instead of making a single connector as in previous portable hardware. You wouldn't want to use wifi for an accessory simply because it's a lot more expensive to make (wifi chips cost a lot more than IR sensors) and a lot more expensive to use (battery power).

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
