yup, your so called ''translation'' patch IS crap.
what a disapointment it was!!!

btw, i never played that game before, so i dont have a clue what the stroy is all about.

Why did you use quotes? It is a translation. Even if they translated it, I doubt you would have the competency to understand it anyway.

Example: What about if NPC tells you, go to the elders village and change your job to paladin they are located at the north east of the mountain bagitongbobo. What you gonna do? explore the whole ffiv map because you didn't understand the npc, because you are American and he is japanese LOL Use your common sense and consult an FAQ when the path isn't blatantly obvious

But guys, dont hate me for what i have done to you. I only express my impression. like belmont said. Im upset and I admit it. This is my last post and I hope you understand me for what I have done.good riddance

I only expected the whole japanese letterslol in the game is translated to english. Ok have a nice day good luck peace

Just because you expected something doesn't make your opinion necessary or worth anything.

I've been using this patch, I haven't played the game before, and I haven't needed to use an FAQ at all. AT ALL.

What the hell...Who opened the floodgates? It's like all the haters and trolls decided to post in the thread at once. Anyways, I've updated the first post to reflect that the script is not translated and has no plans to be. So let's all stop fighting now, mkay?

Wow, I thought -everyone- knew this wasn't going to be dialogue script...Save 1 that is...

I admire the selfless act of translating everything but the dialogue, especially since there will always be assholes who can't appreciate what's given.

I also admire your toleration and patience with this idiocy, I'd have given him a STFU with a GTFO on the side. :x

This patch and the entire project is awesome. Fact.

I just wanna say that this patch is great... im really tired of reading those who dont like what has been done... since what has been done helps lots of people who had the urge to hear the voices and all the stuff...

For those who wanna play the story and understand everything i invite those to wait for the usa release that will be kinda soon... For those that understand the final meaning of this patch i invite them to enjoy it since is quite nice.

This goes for everyone... please understand that the translation patch is to play the game "while the game comes to USA". Thats why a real translation is not needed and why some other projects goes for something harder... Who wanna do the same work that is going to be released that soon? A full translation is ok for games like Jump ultimate stars, super robot taisen and so.... It was FF IV jap for snes when square enix didnt wanted to translate the real game and released in USA the crappy Final Fantasy II... but since square enix is obviously releasing this game to the rest of the world... is kinda pointless

For those who dont understand me... sry for my crappy english but is not my main language and im kinda tired so it makes it even worse xD

Btw... how is the patch 1.0 going? i wanna have the last version before starting playing ^^

Hey, when there is going to be 1.0 patch. I'm fighting Golbez at the underworld and without a description when you scan him, it's very hard.

IIRC, he switched in a predictable pattern. I just figured out what that was (level 1 spells, elemental weapons) and hit him twice with summons (should be enough to kill him).

I forgot to thank Belmont and Raganook. I've been following this thread since it's inception, trying every patch as it came. Needless to say, it's been an awesome help!

The character names are still in Japanese. I really wanted to have them translated in English. Well, this is a fixation with me, it is not really important, just an aesthetic thing, I guess. I tried everything to find them in the files obtained by decompression (dslazy), but with no success. I guess these are stored in compressed (perhaps double compressed) files, maybe .lz files, but no decompression progams that I tried worked. I figured that I had to devise a dedicated decompressing routine, but this exceeded my hacking expertise. Then I measured all the talent necessary for the translation team to achieve the patch they gave us in this short time. The game is now fully playable with no Japanese knowledge. For that, thank you very much BelmontSlayer, Raganook and company. A really nice work! Forget all the bad comments from people who do not realize at all the problems that you faced.

P.S. : Sorry for my bad English, this is not my mother language.

I'm pretty sure that the character names are stored as images. The problem is, all the images are compressed in the game and I suck at figuring out decompression algorithms. Unless a very skilled ROM hacker joins our team, I doubt that the character names will ever be translated.

We won't let such issues bother us!

@Everyone

Thanks to all those who enjoy our work and comment on it. Although I might not respond to each and every message, I always read them. So thanks for your continued words of support!

First, i must say thank you to these guys that are working hard for a FREE translation patch for everyone. i've never seen so many ungrateful and picky bastards that complain when someone is doing a favor for them. honestly, come on now.

i haven't tried the patch myself since i'm waiting for a full release. so i'm curious.. when the characters speak in japanese, are there subtitles to show what they are saying? forgive me if this is an ignorant question, i'm just one of those guys that likes to wait till things are finished. i looked for any posts regarding this on the temp and couldn't find any. maybe i didn't look hard enough? any response would be appreciated :]

No dialogue translation what-so-ever. And I'd think that decompressing the movie files, translating them, subbing them, re-encoding them and inserting them, would be a hell of a lot of work, so i don't think it's going to happen...

Would you really have to encode the movie files? I was under the impression that the subs were seperate from the videos.

I'm almost positive that they are. But no, we aren't translating that. There are only (two? If I remember correctly) scenes though that are new, and you can definitely figure it out without the text.

Hey, when there is going to be 1.0 patch. I'm fighting Golbez at the underworld and without a description when you scan him, it's very hard.

Instead of trying to figure Golbez's elemental patterns I just used physical attacks and cast Bio for Rydia. Bio is non-elemental for this game so it's fairly effective in this fight.
