Hacking I'm addicted to flashcards and MicroSD's...

Well, sometimes we've been able to get some of our money back by selling the older flashcard to unsuspecting newbies

But we've run out of newbie victims lately, which is why we have a variety of flashcards around

. But like I said before, some have unique features, such as being able to play GBA games, so it doesn't hurt to have them around. Our old M3 MiniSD Perfects are good for using with the GBA Micro, for example. It's always nice to get some of the money back though! lol

Heh, I think I'm addicted to flashcards.. back in September I got myself a G6 Lite and Max Media Launcher. Flashed my DS and sold the stuff after some time.

Then I got a DS-Xtreme. After some time I didn't trust them anymore and jumped out of their boat (and sold it).

Got myself a cheap-ass SuperCard Lite Rumble and Sandisk 1GB Ultra II MicroSD and a 2nd hand Sandisk 512MB one.

Then I was blown away by R4 DS and it's soft-reset and brightness control capabilities, so got me one of those. Hunted down a Japanese Kingston MicroSD just for the fun of it. 2 weeks ago I ordered another R4 DS and Japanese Kingston MicroSD, just because it was such a good offer.

Last week I ordered an M3 Lite to use as RAM pak and GBA flashcard.

Today I read about some developments for the EZ-Flash 3in1 expansion and ordered me one of those as well.

Who else has this addiction? I'm really enjoying all these kits and the stuff surrounding it, like patches, savegames, homebrew, whatever. More than the thing they're designed for, running commercial ROMs.

I currently have the R4 DS , DS Xtreme and DS Linker lying next to me. I used to own the G6 Lite + Passcard 3.

I dunno if I'm addicted but I bought a crapload of Toshiba microSDs because they were on sale (in HK). So I have 8x 1GB and 4x 512MB. I only use one 1GB and one 512MB on flashcarts though, one went to my phone the others on other shit that use the regular SD slot...

As for flashcarts, I only have a M3 SD, SuperCard SD and R4... ;-; I want a Slot-2 card though since I lost one of my DS lite's Slot-2 cover... (or someone nice who lives in US/EU/JP gets one from Nintendo and sends it to me for FREE.)

Same, that's just how I think of technology in general. My laptop's 4 years old, phone's done 5 years*, hell I was still using a portable casette player until my tape recorder wore out a year ago. I see no point in replacing something if it works and it does what I need it to. I might not have all the jumping through hoops fancy features that later models have but I can live without them. If your needs change and the old product doesn't do something you need it to then fine, but constantly replacing things with the latest and greatest model just for the sake of getting a few extra features you don't really need is just a waste.

Back on topic, I will be buying a second cart for DS software, but only a slot 1 cart. I already have an EZFA which is perfect for GBA, but its multiboot menu cannot handle DS titles. I don't know if the EZFA can function as a RAM expansion, but seeing as I don't have a WiFi router it's not worth worrying about now. When the time comes I'll buy one if I need one.

(* incidentally its charger jack has just packed in so I've got a new phone on order which should arrive tomorrow)

wow, you are still using tapes? it's the 21st century everyone is using mp3 lol, i would have thought that your tapes would have worn away with age by now XD i still have a lot of tapes myself but they are all shoved into a cupboard and replaced with mp3's now, same for old videos all on DVD's now, i hate old technology. (apart from retro consoles, they rock

@jalaneme MP3 was so 10 years ago, the cool kids use FLAC and AAC these days apparently.

I would love to keep my old tech but unfortunately the things I like doing tend to warrant me having some of the latest gear (I try and keep a year or so behind bleeding edge as it is a bit less like burning funds). None the less I was still using a tape until I decided listening to stuff outside probably was not the best idea and I am still sporting an original model DS. VHS can go hide in the history books though.

but is it more stable and have better sound than mp3? on top of that is it supported by many different mp3 players? including the ipod?

wow, you are still using tapes?No, the Walkman and tapes still work perfectly but my tape recorder broke. So I can't add any new music and figured if I had to buy a new one it was time for an upgrade. My MP3 player's a year old today (omg Zen Micro out of warranty

Never heard of FLAC but AAC is the format of choice for the iPod, all iTunes stuff is sold in it

Never heard of FLAC but AAC is the format of choice for the iPod, all iTunes stuff is sold in it

on top of that AAC is well protected, and itunes store only sell the songs @ 128k i rip my songs from my CD's at 320k btw i still have my very old tape player in my cupboard somewhere but i haven't used it in years, i haven't used a CD for ages either (after i ripped them all they were stored and were never used again lol), way too much hassle having to take a disc out and swap it just to listen to one song, with a ipod you just select a track and play it and all your songs are all there, i just love the ipod

I'm addicted with the time I spend on them, but not in buying them. I bought a EZ4 Lite MicroSD when it first came out, and then upgraded to the EZ4 Lite Deluxe when that came out. I haven't bought any other flashcart since then.

However, I am going to get the R4 pretty soon. For perfecto DS.

I have an R4DS, and yes it is the damn best thing on the market in my opinion.

As far as TF/Micro SD cards go, I too am addicted to them. I have bought 3 Japanese Kingston 1GB MicroSD cards for my R4DS so far, and am loving them. They only had cost me 5$ each as well, what a deal!

Well im not addicted to flashcards. But im addicted to playing them...I might get a r4 DS since its cheaper and plus MicroSD prices have gone down.

And my supercard rumble lite is acting lame moonshell. So I just might have to get it.

after 3 DSlites, and 8 DS games i am 'spent' on DS retail games.
2xsuperkey and 2xsupercardSD, one set for me one for my bro, and now an R4 with a 1gb kingston (J)
as far as media, WTF do you people need multiple micoSDs for? all i can use microSD for is cellphone and R4. personally i like good ol' regular SD best. the 4 1GB SDs i have work in my PC, DVD player, Wii, mp3 player etc

is that an addiction? really i just dont want to fork over anymore cash, especially after looking at my 50+ gamecube games 45 that i never play

Well, I did sell most of them; my G6 Lite and DS-Xtreme are sold, as well as some smaller stuff like the MML. I don't spend an afwul lot of money on other things so I can afford it. But I do find myself a little crazy ^^

I get flashcarts for review.
If I didn't get them for review I would probably not get as many, but I do like having all the latest equipment.
For example, I am getting a G6 Real quite soon to review, I am looking forward to that!

I bought a ez 3 in 1, i am planning to buy a ezV, i was going to buy a R4, but since the GBA compatibility is still beta, so i am waiting in the meantime. Is there any info on M3 real, g6 real? I tried looking up M3 real but i found no info.

I think he meant to Download Play with only 1 cart.

i.e. Playing Mario Kart among 4 people with only 1 cart using WiFi download play.
