Hye, i just bought my self a new dsI with the r4i flashcart...i was looking at the r4i web page and it was telling me something about playing gba games. im kinda new at this stuff so i figured i'd ask. can i play gba games on the r4i? and if so, what app do i download on to my r4i? THANKS!

The r4i cannot play gba games without a Slot-2 Expansion Card like the EWIN Expansion Pack or the EZ Flash 3-in-1.

However, as the dsi LACKS the Slot-2 (unlike the ds and ds lite of course), therefore it cannot be done on a dsi.

Well, dice, that's the case atm, it might change depending on if Nintendo decides to rerelease GBA games on the DSi Shop.

but r4i is not made by official r4 company...its a clone....i would not recommend it but fer dslite....it works wonders

Well, how much did you pay for it?
The Acekard 2i and the EZVi (though the AK2i is crap according to Normmatt) are both less than $20.

QUOTEALL r4i cards are fake. ALL OF THEM. Why? Because the team that created the original r4 cards went out of business nearly/over a year ago. Any cards that are out right now with the r4 label are very likely to be FAKE (or be one of the unlikely few originals that haven't been sold).

They NEVER produced an r4i card because they went out of business before the dsi was even announced. So in other words, it doesn't matter where you choose to get the r4i from, it'll be a fake. Personally I'd stay away from any r4 card as they have the potential to wreck itself quickly and your ds console (as it's a fake, it's likely to be less reliable than a "real" card, just like with fake designer clothes wearing out quickly or any other immitation gadget -potentially- not functioning properly at any time) but it's at the buyer's risk at the end of the day. Many people do not suffer any problems at all with such cards but for added assurance go for a card that is genuine and is being maintained via official firmware updates etc.

Just to add, this also applies to most R4 cards out on the market, the chances of a real R4 card still being sold is extremely low (especially when compared with the number of shops that claim to sell them even after production was halted so long ago... memorybits for example which is a well known site).

what am i not understanding. i now know that i just bought some phony stuff...the only good thing is, it works like any other flashcart in every way. the website i bought it off of is a legit website from what i can see. if you don't believe me check it yourself..

ok, so, even though its fake, it still works. yet, im being told im still and idiot for getting it? i guess ill use it till it breaks, and if it does, someone please tell me, what is the best cart out there and WHY!?
