Gaming If I switch ONLY the Motherboard of 2 DSi (non-xl) will they still work?

I have two DSis and one of them has a better slot-1 and better shoulder buttons, but is bricked. The other has a dead R button and a finicky slot-1, but has homebrew. Can I just swap the motherboards, and the systems will function just fine with the motherboards swapped? (Of course I know it won't unbrick it, but will the motherboards be compatible with the new hardware?)

Shouldn't be an issue, there's no hardware pairing or anything like that.

Firmware would be on the motherboard itself, I don't see why it would be incompatible. The 3DS is newer hardware that is also vulnerable to a motherboard swap.
