That'd be an adblocker.
A type of Ad Blocker, yes, and then there'a AdBlock, which makes it more confusing.

Op quite clearly meant all types of adblockers.A type of Ad Blocker, yes, and then there'a AdBlock, which makes it more confusing.
http://www.businessinsider.com/the-...et-exposed-a-teen-girls-pregnancy-2012-2?IR=TWith analytics becoming ever more advanced they'll soon know people better than they know themselves.
While I can certainly agree to a statement of it causing an arms race of sorts (I particularly like facebook's efforts in recent times where they really worked them in and did not give any great tells, only for ad blocking to turn around and say "well you already trained us to accept incomplete feeds so some false positives on our end are OK") if you think for a moment that ad making set would not have gone full blown metrics, tracking and whatever else we see today you don't know such people and their history -- https://mbsportal.bl.uk/taster/subjareas/busmanhist/mgmtthinkers/bernays.aspxWell, considering that if AdBlockers didn't exist, we wouldn't have as invasive advertising, I think it would work out just fine.
FYI that 20 pages is called pop under.Lol, didn't read all the comments but such a question coul only come from someone who grew up with stuff like ad blocker I guess ... ?
I use the internet since more than 20 years now and Ad Blocker just "recently" started to become a big thing, at least as for what I know.
I only "need" that thing with funny webpages that want to open lots of other pages which open another few pages and so on. Had something like this at work yesterday, browsed some unknown pages on my break (using FF) and after closing it there were like 20 pages opened in the background and I did not even notice.
Couldn't read that article, there's a big "you are using an Ad blocker" overlay
I did want to link the forbes article that article references but they have anti adblock too, that one just showed enough to begin with.Couldn't read that article, there's a big "you are using an Ad blocker" overlay
I guess I need to install an ad-blocker-blocker
The question then becomes safe for work? Are we all to become puritans like the Americans? One thing I hate about ads is a combination of the algorithms being bullshit and some site owner being idiots.
I mean, there are sites that should be SFW and other that can be NSFW.
No matter how much porn I look for on my NSFW time, I still don't want google to show me NSFW ads on the newspaper site I happen to be browsing during my ride on the bus or in a random public place.
Because of that I would be annoyed without ad blockers, still would use the Internet though.
