Hardware Identify Wii U lens damage without opening it?

It sound silly, but there is a way to check it? Like a unique error code or something.
Also, i ordered the Wii U lens kit. It should work right? Or it's a piece of junk like those you can find at the DVD store?

It's a special DVD drive, have you tried with another disc? Have you searched the DVD drive in ebay? You need to open it, same with Wii.
