Hello Gbatempers:
I know that Nintendo updates are encrypted, but, could we make a mirror of, for example, 10.3 and when 10.4 is released, downgrade by using the mirror?

You can't downgrade without the use of a Process9 exploit because "When a title is *already* installed, Process9 will compare the installed title-version with the title-version being installed. When the one being installed is older, Process9 would return an error."

Yes, I know, but if you are on 9.9 and you want to update to 10.2 to useceshop spoof but you don't want to go on 10.3 (It isn't my case)

Unless you can set up some sort of SSL (HTTPS) server, you can't really upgrade to a specific firmware.

You just can't because you don't have Nintendo's SSL certificate and private keys
Oh yeah! I forget about that. ;)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Then why can't you just mimic the Cert and private keys, then?

That would be a lot more useful than doing 3DS crap, You'd invalidate millions of dollars of crypto work.

Because we don't have quantum computers at home.
It is not possible and it is highly copyrighted content.

If you want the 3DS to download the firmware update from another server then you'd have to change which server the 3DS should download from, and you'd need to edit your 3DS for that, which would require kernel exploit.
