Since we will know nothing for sure until January - or even not until March if Nintendo intends on being vague, lets make up our own specs (ideally somewhat based on what we know and what we think we know) to pass the time.

Mine:

6.6" 1080p screen, 60fps target achieved by most games.
6GB ram, 512MB eDRAM (think Crystalwell) shared by all cores.
64GB onboard storage, SDXC slot officially supporting 512GB
CPU more powerful then PS4
GPU effectively a GTX 1055, more powerful than PS4
Shortly into console lifespan a "Power Dock" with eGPU equivalent to GTX 1070, makes Switch 4K
6-7 hour battery life.
Joy-cons can be switched out with third-party or even personalized ones, such as a Gamecube style or Bowser edition
Eventually comes in multiple editions, including a Hyrule edition with gold Zelda motif on back and matching Joycons and Dock.
VC portability - all VC games purchased from other consoles can be redownloaded on the Switch for free or minimal cost.
Comes with an updated account system with everything we currently have in the free tier, and you can pay a subscription which allows for cloud saves
NOT ANDROID. But does have a full collection of media apps including Netflix and web browser.

lol 1080p screen

720p screen
1GB of storage
CPU equal to PS1
GPU equal to the raspberry pi
joycons made out of cardboard
OS with no real online functionality and it's shit
Damn dude, even a WiiU has more power than that! Gotta live the potato specs dream.

* 3.5 hour battery at mid-level brightness
* longer-term reliability problems due to heat stresses
* neither a good home unit nor a compact people will want to carry
* battery removal that requires more involved disassembly (just like everyone else)
* hidden easter eggs found in the firmware making fun of Vita's demise

1. 1080p Screen
2. Touchscreen
3. Some futuristic battery so 1080p/touchscreen wont be a problem
4. Android support for possible Mobile app ports
5. Extension support for 3rd party controllers/VR/Android Phone
6. Power fast enough for emu's up to Dolphin/Citra
7. More Miku
8. Feature-rich and User-friendly OS
9. 4-8 GB of RAM
10. 500GB of space
11. SDXC going up to 1TB (since SanDisk IS making one of those)

If any of these were most likely to be real, it would be #5, #6, #8, #9, (probably) #10, and #11.

720p screen 60fps target for all games on handheld, 900/1080p 45/30fps on tv. (There REALLY isn't need for any more)
6-8 hours of battery life
ability to get the right joycon flipped (I dislike the stick being on top of 1 and bottom on the other)
Proper online system, preferably free but a small fee of 15 euro for 3 months or 50 for a year would be acceptable too.
Achievement system.
VC update, as many games as possible, hopefully a large number of gamecube titles like skies of arcadia, tales of symphonia, etc etc.
128GB SD card support AT LEAST.
€45 games. This would make them the cheapest of this generation, potentially pushing more people to get it.
No more than a €300 price point for the system. I'm not made of money, between now and launch, i'm gonna put somewhere between €25 and €50 on my pre-order each week just to be sure I can have the system.
Demo's for games. Seriously, so few games these days have demo's. Giving the consumer the chance to check out a game could be a big thing to bring back. It'd show "hey, here's how awesome our game is, we have nothing to hide!".
And if we're REALLY REALLY LUCKY: Linux support. VERY doubtful, but it'd be a wicked little machine to have Linux on.

6.5 - 7 inch 720p - 1080p screen, preferably capacitive touch
Tactile buttons like found on the 3DS
Analog Triggers
Performance comparable to or better than the XBox One, so it can at least compete with the current generation of consoles. I don't think it needs PS4 power, but something in that range. There have been rumors of when the switch is docked, it goes into a "overclock mode" which overclocks the system and keeps it cool, letting it have preformance thats very similar to a XBox One. This is something I really want to see.
Motion Controls, they would be fine to have, but i dont think they are 100% needed.
exFAT support so you can technically use cards bigger than 32gb
SDXC support
6-8 hour battery life
USB 3.0 HDD support, to store games
Support to store games on the SD card to take all your games to go, if you wish.
Replaceable JoyCons, or maybe even let 3rd parties develop them. Id love to see a gamecube controller joycon for sale
Maybe a good stylus that works like the S-Pen on Samsung Galaxy Note devices
$250 - $300

This is what i would like to see the switch become. Good specs, nice price, great storage options, and great games.

Lets buy a Switch for 400 quid!
Half a year to a year later, Lets buy the "power dock" for another 400 quid!
One year after that, Nintendo releases Switch with build in "power dock"

Yeah fuck no.

Ah. Well the Switch is potentially leaked at $330CAD (~$300USD), and I doubt the "Power Dock" will cost more, or come out before a year or two has passed (they would want to ensure that developers don't get lazy and fail to optimize for the standalone Switch). A GTX 1070 right now is $400CAD ($360USD), but a) they will go down in price over one or two years b) Nintendo and Nvidia will be using a customized solution and and have control over margins c) a 1070 may not be needed, and something like a $200 GTX 1060 equivalent working with the built in GPU may prove sufficient.

But these are "I want to believe" specs. I'm going to assume that the Switch is $270USD, and the Power Dock is $180USD

720p on the go
up to 4k on the big screen (which includes media, not per se games)

GPU basically a 750 ti Overclocked
CPU quad core with around amd x4 860k/pentium g2358 performance
4 gb ram
8GB of expandable storage

Now I know these specs may seem like not much, but considering it's a handheld AND it's using Nvidia tech which will give an advantage just by being Nvidia.
Also, 4GB ram is really low for a current gen system... but if the OS is super optimized it should be enough. Maybe the RAM isn't even shared with the GPU.

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
