Sorry, I didn't realise I was coming off as bitchy.
And, although I'm here mainly for the Nintendo handheld stuff (3ds included), I do agree that there seems to be a lack of anything else.
But there's no answer for it. It's not like you can force the community to shift the focus of their gaming/hacking habits... all you can do as an individual is be more active in other areas - if that sparks more interest and development then that's great, but if there's no major developments occurring in any particular scene it stands to reason that it will remain quieter than one like the 3ds that's currently on a roll.

To an extent, it reflects the audience of the site itself. This site tends to focus more on Nintendo handhelds because the vast majority of the sites users and contributers are focused on this, and this itself is due to the site's history in the GBA scene. To an extent, this has translated to other Nintendo formats.

It's also true that the 3DS simply has the most active and easily accessible scene of the current formats, although this site has overlooked the growing Vita scene. Native Vita homebrew is now possible and has been since May, but you'd never know this if GBATemp was your only source of homebrew and hacking news.

The reality is that GBATemp is the main resource for Nintendo-focused scene information, whereas Wololo is the main place for Sony handhelds. The latter has been trying to include more Nintendo content, but they essentially have the same problem where the users and contributers are mainly interested in the Sony scene and this is reflected in the content. The Vita section here is dead - I've started a couple of topics, and it's pretty much the same handful of users posting.

It's a shame. Between the massive user base that GBATemp has and the amount of hackers and coders that frequent Wololo, bringing those two scenes together could help both 3DS and Vita homebrew, raise awareness of both scenes and hopefully lead to more progress rather than the strange fragmentation and 'walled' communities that we currently have.

Well, GBATemp's community has always been more Nintendo orients, there's still a few other things, though. Considering what the site was built on, it's not surprising. For Sony homebrew, you have Wololo. For Microsoft homebrew you have... the old XBMC forums?

Call me crazy but when you visit a site with GBA in the name you should sort of know what to expect! As of right now the 3ds scene is exploding, where there is new and exciting, there is interest from the community. I am sure there are hundreds of other sites out there that offer the diversity you are looking for!

I don't think there's that much overlap between 3DS and Vita hacking and development. They are different devices worked on by (for the most part) different developers. Having them both on the same forum would help spread the news faster (we do have the board and all bigger news and breakthroughs do get posted on the front page, we're just a little behind on the development in progress) but I don't think there would be any significant collaboration across platforms, and developers who work on both platforms aren't hindered by the forums being separate. And is going to different forums that much different from going to separate boards to get your news? Boards on here are pretty separate as it is. There are active members on the Temp that I've never heard of because we don't frequent the same boards
