Did you play Killzone 3? People are saying this game is the way sony is finding the PSNs to ban.

It's a smart move by SONY. You dont see much of those by SONY these days...

Banned people will start buying new consoles (non hacked), as you can use your account on other PS3.

Are you sure they aren't banning accounts as well, which would force you to repurchase all your content for the new PS3?

it's probably not the smartest thing for sony to do. with the consistent xbox 360 ban hammers almost every year, people could have just move to the ps3 causing a tremendous loss in 360 sales. I mean if ur going to pirate ur going to pirate so at least they could get the console sales and perhaps more games would come to the ps3 as developers rn't going to now how many people on the ps3 r actually pirating.

Just to make sure...

Have you played killzone 3?

I too am curious to know this as well. I mean, you DO know that the PS3 checks update servers for EVERY game you launch, right? It would be downright idiotic to play a game that is weeks away from retail release. That's just a big red flag to Sony right there.

(As for me, I've yet to receive an e-mail from Sony indicating my ban. Then again I haven't attempted to log in since yesterday and I've yet to play KZ3, I can wait patiently for the actual disc)

edit: knocking on virtual wood so I don't jinx it!

1. You have no evidence 360 ban hammers meant people moved to PS3
2. The threat of rampant piracy is a HUGE turn-off for Devs. Any kind of action by Sony right now is encouraging them back. Even if they don't know they can suspect huge numbers due to how open the console is now.

Yeah, but it could also be that sony is trying to apply the rootkit on every PS3 online. If the 3.56 rootkit doesn't work, that means you're using 3.55 fw. Also meaning that you're using charlie or f*ck PSN to get online, which means that you have a CFW.

I don't know, but I'm going to wait at least a week for people to find the method sony is using to find and ban the cfw users. I haven't logged in since yesterday either.

Bad news :S
I connected myself to PSN twice yesterday, only logged the account and for the moment no ban mail for me.I hope I don't get banned.
It´s time to play offline again(for these which want to load backups)

I just got an e-mail from Sony:

Important: Access to the PlayStation®Network and Access to Qriocity? Services Notice

Unauthorized circumvention devices for PlayStation®3 system have been recently released by hackers for the PlayStation®3 system. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software.

Use of such devices or software violates the terms of your “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation®3 System” and the “Terms of Services and User Agreement” for the PlayStation®Network/Qriocity? and its Community Code of Conduct provisions. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws.

A circumvention device and/or unauthorized or pirated software currently resides on your PlayStation®3 system.

Immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from your PlayStation®3 system. Failure to do so will result in termination of your access to PlayStation® Network and access to Qriocity? services through your PlayStation®3 system.

Only a warning, but I will be upgrading my slim to OFW and looking at getting a phat for 'other' uses

No, I did not play Killzone 3, nor have I used any of the PSN bypass methods to get online on 3.55. I did however play some homebrew online before, so it must be due to that.

That error code is the error code for being banned for racism on PSN... And to my knowledge it is only 30 days.

i was just about to aks if hes been racist latley (dont worry op, it happens to the best of us) http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Pla...t/true#M1771435

Hey Joe!
No, it really doesn't. I say he deserves his ban, and disagree with all this Sony angst. You hack, you risk the consequences, so man up and face them. Apparently OP didn't have to face them, but for those of you that do; it's not Sonys fault you got banned, it's YOURS.

You should have two consoles (one hacked and one cleaned), if you want to hack + access PSN.

Depends on if they ban the console only or also the account.

This.
But all I have to say if you really want PSN back (and not let plus expire

),
get another PS3 model and use that one for PSN.

perhaps, but it's the only logical assumption one could make. the ps3 and 360 have almost identical game libraries, and the only reason many people bought a 360 to begin with was because it was hackable. do u honestly think people would just continuously buy the system over and over again despite ban hammers and rrod if not for piracy?

as for ur second point, it doesn't hold a lot of merit. the ds is by far the easiest of the consoles and portables to pirate games for yet it still receives the most support. the evidence would tend to suggest that piracy is very low on all consoles, because games r selling better now than ever before.
