final fantasy xiii is a good game, but not a good final fantasy. the linearity is what killed it for many. the fact that there r next to no branching paths and the grid is nearly a straight line is extremely poor design. there's no incentive to play the game a second time if ur going to have the same experience.

With FFX you could backtrack which gave the impression of more freedom.
