definitely the crystal versions are the best. Long to beat and many pokemanz to collect... and mostly its the best from the rest of pokemon series.

Definitely Crystal imo. Because you can get all the legends from that gen, except celebi (you can get that one, but only with a jap version, and i think you need an event). And you can get to kanto (which i believe you can do in gold and silver, too).

Definitely G/S/C. And don't forget, you can go to kanto in G/S/C too, so it's twice the worth of R/B/Y!

To be honest though, I liked Silver better than Crystal.

I had Red, Yellow, and Crystal. I thought they were all great. I played all of them for quite awhile, and since I was a kid, I don't really remember which was better. Just remember them all being great. Heh.

Dont waste your time playing the old ones(not that your actually wasting you time playing R/B/Y) but if you just play S/G/C you get to see Kanto anyway. granted Kanto isnt in its full glory but you get to see most of it anyway.

Its all about Silver for me.

First I played was Red, and it's great.....my favorite (FireRed remake is also great, the same game, but nicer graphics)..It had that awesome glitch with missingNo. pokemon.....it could mess up your game, but it was great catching it..
After that I played Crystal, and wasn't that much into it, but great game too..Maybe you'll enjoy Crystal a bit more, because it's a Color game, and it's kinda bigger than Red/Blue/Yellow..(also Yellow, is the special edition with the Pikatchu following you around, could be fun if you like him very much)..

Good choice man. Logged like 100 and some hours of in it when i was younger. Once I beat Diamond I'm going back to it and red again.

are you trying to get all the pokemon? i just beat the elite 4 + champion. i think its too much work to get all the pokemon.

CRYSTAL!
It's the best Pokemon game I've played so far (currently playing, just beat the Elite 4 in Jhoto). It get's kinda harder but much more fun/realistic.

I beat Gold, my brother beat Silver, and my other brother beat crystal... Out of all of them I liked gold the most, although Crystal has both legendary Pokemon, can't really beat that. Damn I miss chasing those 3 legendary Pokemon.

No I just started playing it. Only got 2 badges. I don't know if I'll try to get all the pokemon. I never actually did in any game.
