Hello, is there an alternative for this or do you absolutely need this tool?

It is used for example when separating the two signal tracks at installation about "dat0".

huh? I haven't see this being used ever. I only seen a reball install or an ankor install.

sharp point tweezers or a pin work to scrape off the soldermask. I would actually recommend it against using the grinder, you don't want to grind through the trace
