This is pretty nice but I don't own an e-reader and would rather not have to be tied to the computer desk to read.

So you don't have a smartphone? I do all my reading on mine.

Smartphone screens are way too small. And the LCD will kill my eyes after long reading sessions (e-ink in readers like the Kindle > LCD).

Yeah, I typically read in Night mode, which swaps black/white, so it's white text on black background. I can read forever like that. The text can be really small if I'm reading a pdf, but when I open an eBook in Aldiko (my fave eReader app) I can change the font and size of the text and spacing and all kinds of other junk.
