Tomorrow, Mojang, the developers of Minecraft, will be hosting the second rendition of what they call the Mojam. They're going to make a game between tomorrow at noon EST until Saturday evening. A few key changes this go round, though.
We’re also proud to announce the involvement of six other developers who’ve kindly agreed to donate their time and energy to the project. They’ll be making games too, and their builds will also be included in the final bundle! Exciting eh?
What does this mean for you?
  • You get to watch an exclusive Mojam livestream! It’ll include insight into the development of the games, as well as loads of entertaining challenges organised by Lydia.
  • You get the chance to donate cash towards two charities close to Mojang’s heart: Block by Block and the EFF.
  • Everyone who donates will get to play the final games we create, along with any builds we release during the ‘Jam.
  • Donate above the average contribution and you’ll get entry into exclusive raffles!
  • You get to decide the themes that will help inspire our games. To do that, just pick your two favourite ideas from the list of potentials below. Tomorrow we’ll randomly pick two of the ideas for each game, and use them as inspiration.

Whether or not I'll be donating is up in the air, but I'll definitely be tuned in. Always inspiring to see developers at work.

Because people care about Mojang outside of Minecraft.

Dude, totally. There's like, Scrolls, and... um.... that space game, and... stuff. You just don't understand!

Anyway, I've heard mixed things about the first Mojam. Hopefully they'll kick things up a Notch.

Wait...are you saying they are going to make a game (I'm assuming a video game) in barely more than two days?

If so: Erm...yeah. Well...Hmm...

I'd rather not, to be honest.

Yeah, I know there are game making programs out there that make things easier. But still...

Might be interesting just to watch people coding live, but eh.

There's competitions where people make entire games in under 24 hours. I mean they barely end up better than your average free flash game, but it's still interesting.

Maybe they'll knock that fucking fedora off his head.

If you're under the age of sixty and wear a fedora and you're not part of organized crime you deserve a kick in the teeth.

You're just mad jelly.

I'll throw a few bucks in the fedora. I probably won't play any of the games (like all the indie bundles so far) but I like the cause.

You just suck cuz you can't pull off wearing a fedora. I love them. Mainly because I actually look good in them than I do any other hat with me being bald and everything. But his fedora sucks.

I have a few fedoras that are actually good. But you can tell he's in need of a new one. The crease is gone, it's going a bit limp and it's fading.
