I've heard really good things about the CycloDS. I was planning on getting an R4, but I might go with this. The biggest problem I've seen with the R4 so far is that it isn't very well secured, and jarring it causes games to freeze. Is that a problem with the CycloDS?

I've had a CycloDS for about a year and I've never had any problems with it whatsoever. It works perfectly with every game I've ever tried on it and the Action Replay Cheats work great. I know there are some other carts that are cheaper, but I would highly recommend the CycloDS for it's compatibility and stability.

thats the only problem you've seen with the r4?
besides the fact that its one of the oldest flashcarts?
despite the fact its being sued by nintendo?
despite the fact that production was closed?
despite the fact that its very likely you'll get a fake one?
despite the fact that its not SDHC compatible?
despite the fact that almost every other cart beats the r4 by a mile?
despite the fact that the r4 wont make any more updates?
despite the fact that the r4 cant play a lot of games?

if youre not gonna get a cyclo,
at least pick something decent.
like
the DSTT
acekard 2
Edge

all in all. the cyclo is way outta the r4's league.
and the cyclo runs great. smooth, clean.
so no r4 kay?
no kidding. dont get one.
youre only cheating yourself if you do.

I've got both. I got an R4 very early in the scene and it has served me well but the CycloDS Evolution is a far superior card in my opinion.

ya i did the same thing. In all honesty what is better than the cyclo? The cyclo has GREAT team support. They actually listen to their customers. SDHC support unlike the R4. RTS unlike some other cards. Ingame text which i think is the only that has this (it helps me alot when playing ff4). All in all it is an excellent card. The only complaint i had about it was that i felt it used up too much battery, but now with the battery save feature i don't think this should be a problem anymore!

Sold EDGE to a friend and used that money to purchase the CYCLO!! Cant wait till it gets here!!
Hehehehe, I did that too, I sold my RPG that I won (Thanks GBATemp!) to a friend and bought a cyclo for $40USD =)

Like others here said the Cyclo is far superior compared to other cards especially the R4, I have never regretted buying one and I slapped myself for not getting one earlier.

Just in short:

- CycloDS Evo has RTS (Real Time Save), This means you can save anywhere in the game if you activate RTS.
- SDHC
- Dev. Team still excists
- Still updates available (v1.51 Beta4 got released not long ago)
The above is something the R4 does not have and never will

I preffer CycloDs Evo: (and i got alot of flashcards through my hands for reviews)
- Easy GUI
- RTS (See Above)
- Great AR compatibility (Use Narins AR Cheat Database)
- Supports SDHC (Another Thing the R4 does not support)
- Works great with all SD:SDHC i ever used
- Great Support
- Very good EZFlash 3in1 and other Expansion compatibility
- No slow downs in browsing the games (Something the DSTT / TTDS suffers from)
- No springslot for the MicroSD/TF (Like it or not, depends all on yourself)
- Available in Black and White
- Cyclo team Still excists! (can't say that for the original R4 Team)
- Dev. team listen to its users!
- GUI available in diff. Languages.
- Great till perfect compatibility
- Wii connectivity support
- All homebrew works as far as i know

Cheap alternatives are:
- EDGE (Almost the same as CycloDs without RTS and another type of AR cheat datatbase (also supported by Narin))
- AK2
- DSTT / TTDS (Top Toy DS / NeoFlash)
- EZFlash IV(+)

I'm not poo pooing the R4. I loved it when I got it. It was at its peak simply the best card there was. It had a simple function early on in the game and did it very well for a time. But as with every technology it evolves and something better always comes along and that better thing is the CycloDS Evo.

Whoa! lol, I didn't know people were still responding. Yeah, I'm a flashcart noob, so it was a dumb question. I've researched the crap out of it now though, so I'm definitely not going with an R4. A better question (one that I can't answer) is how does the Supercard One compare to the CycloDS.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!!

How can you even THINK about caring the powerful CycloDS to the lowest of them all R4? Have you done your research? And dude, please read PharaohVizier's comparison to the Supercard and Cyclo on the NDS Flashing Hardware board. Look him up, it should be in his sig I think

Alright, my decision has been made. I'm going with the Supercard One. I don't care that it's a lot less user friendly. In the past, I've found that the less user friendly something is, the more options it offers to users willing to sit and figure it out.

Also, the fact that it's cheaper doesn't hurt.
