Hacking How do I turn a Homebrew app into a channel?

I mean the apps executed from HBC. I've seen people making Backup loader channel, Wad manager channel, and so on. I'm wondering how that's achieved.

When you unpack a homebrew app wad, the 001.app you see is the .elf / .dol file that is being launched.

So you can take any boot.elf / boot.dol file and rename it to "001.app" and repack the wad and make it a channel.

Then you can go all fancy and make an official looking banner, etc...

Well, thank you for that link Tichinde, but that looks like a shit load of confusing work just to turn an emulator(or any other homebrew) into a channel. I think I'll wait until somebody creates a program where it only takes a click or two to make a .dol or .elf into an actual channel.

From the readme:

4. rename the DOL to Channel.001.des

You can use .ELF files as well, so renaming a .ELF file to Channel.001.des would work.

Though, instead of seeing the same banner for all homebrew apps being created this way....you could just create your own banners. I made the VC Goldeneye 007 banners

would be handy, to have a quick program to do it all for you, simply click and locate the banner, icon and save file, would be cool

Like autoinjectuwad where you inject to a specific wad, but have the ability to change the banners etc easily

Just a word of warning: Once you mess with the channel banner, you have a very change of bricking your Wii. I for one will wait for bootmii untill I atempt something in that direction...

i followed the readme, but after i click encrypt and channel.000.des it says "'Mak' is not a valid integer value."
any advice?
