How do I install a WiFi driver in Linux?

I have a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter, but it doesn't work with Linux. How do I get a driver for it?
(I'm a Linux noob.)

They're usually builtin in the kernel already.

Is it an USB adapter? If so post the

sudo lsusb

output here, I'll need that to check the chipset used.

It isn't USB. It's built in. Do I check it with the same command?

Some of the ubuntu/debian line disabled certain older broadcom chipsets, or more accurately the drivers for them, for various reasons. I don't know if it is the case here but is a good bet

Looks like your device is notoriously difficult to set up. Do you have another way of getting your machine on teh interwebs? You might have to download some packages.

My laptop does have an Ethernet port. Maybe that could work.

Yup, then there are a few packages to install and it SHOULD WORK.

At worst, NDISWrapper may work as it allows use of the Windows Driver instead, which some chipsets need to work properly or at all.

Oh, I forgot to tell you all. Sorry. I found the driver on the LiveCD, and I've been happily using Ubuntu since.
