My PSP is at the firmware number 6.39. I know you have to change the version.txt file, but I just wanted to know if I can change the firmware number to 6.60 without my PSP bricking.

you need to upgrade your OFW to 6.60 then transfer 6.60 bro b10 update

Sorry, I wrote this fast and wasn't thinking about what I put in my post. I am already hacked with version 6.39 PRO-B8. I heard there is a way to spoof your system in thinking it is version whatever number you want it to be by changing the version.txt file. I am wondering how I do that.

I dont know about the TXT file but i know if you are upgrading from 6.xx to 6.xx PRO,you need first to upgrade OFW to 6.60 then add update.

Paste this in a text file, save as version.txt in your seplugins folder.
Enable the option to use it in the recovery menu.

Dunno if this still works though.

iirc, it's all supposed to be in the same line like this:
Code:
release:6.60:build:5455,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6system:57716@release_660,0x06060010:vsh:p6616@release_660,v58533@release_660,20110727:target:1:WorldWide
I also copy/pasted it for somebody else (it looks just like that, with the extra enters) and it didn't work properly...

Just a heads-up if prowler's doesn't work. If the single-line one doesn't work either, somebody can provide a dl link to a working text file.

Actually, I did all that and it still did not work. Could someone link a working text file. Thanks for the help.

Why do you want to do this?

I bought two games on the PSN today and I tried to download them. I got the error code 80109D80 and it says,"The Install Failed" It never tries to download or anything. The werid thing is that I can download my games I bought earlier on my download list. I want to change my firmware number in version.txt so I can download the games on my PS3 and copy them to my PSP.

80109D80 means you are banned from using PSN on the system for a week after it detected CFW (also applies to constantly switching accounts which Sony can take as game sharing, but I'm sure that isn't your current problem). Apparently it can also be extended for repeatedly trying to access it while still using CFW.

Just update to 6.60 Pro-B10, and when you want to take it online, do a full shutdown to disable the CFW then go on PSN. When you are done, run it again. Works perfectly that way.

Thanks for the info, but does that mean that I should not use online for a week or just not access the store for a week?

Just the store as far as I know. I don't play online games, but in game DLC services didn't cause any problems.

Seems that this is something new. Anyway use Media Go.
