Still learning

Learned all I know from a guy that knows all there is to know about using a computer well (just wish he had enough confidence to hang up a shingle and run his own business).

And if I didn't get it right the first time, he made it clear he thought little of my intellect and berated me till I got it right

Most people my age would beat the snot out of a kid that talked to a person my age like that though

He's lucky he's really smart, and useful to have around.

I have a cousin too that is good good with computers. I am surprised he hasn't made business with it or anything.

As a kid my Dad helped me play with a game creator on the Atari ST, but when left on my own I didn't really understand the manuals and gave up. In secondary school, we did some stuff with Lego Dacta and I loved it. Our school didn't offer programming and I didn't realise it was the kind of thing you could teach yourself from books, so I went to Uni to learn it. My first Java lecturer was useless so I taught myself that from the tutorial on Sun's website. (as an aside, my second Java lecturer was a genius, so they're not all bad

)

So it's a combination of theory stuff and a few languages I learnt at uni, and odd languages I've taught myself since then. The Internet is a fatastic resource.

then carried on to learn more HTML.
I don't plan on learning C++ because I won't need it.

Thats a pretty interesting way of learning. Now they need DS games and such insteas of my french coach, how about my XHTML coach or My C++ coach.

I learned CL and COBOL working with AS400's.

As far as hacking goes though, I spent a lot of time on xentax.com and other various file cracking sites learning how to read proprietary file formats using a hex editor.

I can read and debug all forms of C. But I've never had time to learn to actually write from scratch.

But as soon as I do I plan on finishing my work on turning Jump Ultimate into a MUGEN like engine.

My high school had a programming class, and being the kind of person I am, I decided to try it out. Our teacher started us out on Pascal, and we moved to C++ about half way through the second class. After I took the last class. I haven't really been doing anything programming related, but about 7 months ago I started up again first with some simple apps to help refresh what I knew, then started more complicated stuff that would require things I didn't know how to do yet.

Man! Our school needs to get some coding classes in. But no, since they are too good for chalkboards and overhead projectors, they gotta waste money no these stupid smart board things. They are interesting but when the first one came in the other teachers were jealous, now there's one in every room, I am surprised the bathrooms and the gym don't have one, and EVERY teacher have problems with them and are always complaining about them
