I don't really understand why anyone would want to be a mod.

Sure, you get the power to....take orders from Costello and follow rules, but that's about it. It's more work than anything else.

It's the "being 'better' than others" thing. That, and the power. Basic human instinct.

The comment above me (don't feel like quoting) just doesn't make sense.

No one can be better than me on a general scale. I'm probably the worst gamer you've ever met, and most are better than me at video games, but comparing person-to-person, I'm still better, and the same goes for the staff.

You don't get it; most noobs think being staff makes them better than others. I don't (as a staff member on another forum), and neither should anyone else...
