yes. Homebrew updates are safe, and should be installed. Nintendo updates are what you don't want to install.
The newest version may cause some programs to no longer work because it went from reading dol and elf files to ONLY dol files. So if you have programs that are still elf files, you'll need to find newer dol versions of the programs or use a elf to dol converter.

Or when your player dies, you can say in code, if enemy exists, do nothing, but if enemy does not exist, then create enemy at certain spot. (This would be a pain tho for lots of emeies)+1 -

Easiest, simple way would be just restart scene, but player would restart from beginning.
