ROM Hack Homebrew Save?

Hi i've read about a homebrew virus that is roaming the Wired. So i was thinking is there a good source to download your hombrew from. Where you are very certain the homebrew has been tested and it's not a virus or anything that would brick my ds lite or my supercard. I payed to much money for it to be being bricked. Anyone can give a link or so.

A few things to note:
Flashme provides a level of protection by allowing you to boot even if the non protected sector gets erased.
Most conventional AV software detects the DS brickers, if not DSlazy ( http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/Dslazy ) has some detection features.
The trojan (note not a virus, a minor distinction perhaps but an important one) never spread far and I have not seen anyone get hit with it for probably about a year.
