I distinctly recall every step of installing it mentioning that there is a chance to brick or damage the Wii.

Way way way out of line.. Treat other temers with SOME respect even if they do something you think is stupid. Not everyone here was born knowing everything.

Installation of the Twilight Hack to install the Homebrew Channel does not touch the DVD drive's function or anything to do with Disc Reading.

The homebrew channel did not brick his wii.

If his wii was "bricked", it wouldnt turn on nor would the system menu function properly.

15 Legit games eh? Then he must have touched some of the apps that were inside the homebrew channel if your friend downloaded and installed any of the homebrew apps onto the SD card.

The homebrew channel itself is empty and cannot do any harm unless you misuse the apps that you put into the homebrew channel.

HOLY CRAP!!!!! Your buddy bricked his wii with HB??? OMG!!!!!! You should get insurance because you are the most UNLUCKY person since about 8000 other people have done it and not had a problem at all!!

Again, HB didn't brick your buddies wii, something else did and this was the easy blame!

Nothing is 100% safe. HBC is probably pretty close to 100% but you did read the disclaimer when you installed it, right?

Also, the Wii is not "bricked". If the system menu comes up you are far from being bricked.

What did he run from HBC? Surely you (or your friend) didn't install the HBC just to see it on the menu?

The only way the Homebrew Channel install could brick a wii is if when it was copying the channel to NAND, the power went out. Possibly this could cause a corrupted banner, and cause a banner brick.

he doesn't have a bricked wii, at most he probably needed a power cycle...nintendo's probably gonna plug it in, see nothing wrong with it and send it back to him.

Nintendo will plug it in see there is nothing wrong with it, notice homebrew channel update it to 3.4 or higher(if then avail.) then send him a bill for the wii being out of warranty along with the wii.

It's not bricked dumbass. HBC is harmless and your friend should have read the disclaimer. All nintendo is gonna do is get pissed off, flick you off for adding 3rd party software and send him a huge fucking bill.

When I read your post, suddenly "the lord of rings" flashed through my mind. I saw Gandulf stands there saying, "fool of a took".

If it says "cannot read disk", it means your application is running !!!!!!!!!

The reason why it cannot read disk, is you used the old version backup loader on the lastest version of IOS249, or otherwise. Just find the right version of backup loader with right version of ios.

We would love to see how Nintendo treats your friend.
