So, there's this gal, mirite?

Last night she came to my new apartment. And after the "Ooh" and "Aahhh." of a shiny new apartment, I immediately ran into a problem.
I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO ENTERTAIN THIS GAL.
Aside from conversation, which we was doin' for the previous two hours (played some tennis. My first time. I still whupped that tail), I had nothing' really.

BUT. I've got my 32" TV hooked up to my computer.
YOUTUBE TO THE RESCUE. 'Cause EVERYONE has favorite youtube videos they can show off.

But yeah, next time I don't wanna resort to youtube.
I DO have this wii here.
And it IS supposed to be a casual gaming.

So, you fellows with non-gaming girlfriends, what games might you suggest?
Heck, what games do you fellows in general suggest?
GAMES THAT ARE STILL CASUAL... But don't suck.

If you can't just have a conversation with a chick, either you've got a real problem, or that relationship is going no where fast -- neither of which will the Wii solve.

This.

If you want to have a relationship, you have to build it on what the two of you share, not what you can do to pass the time. Just try and talk to her for a while, and both of you will have fun. A relationship that is founded solely on the fact that you can play Wii together isn't really a relationship, and she'll look elsewhere for what she wants: a companion and harbinger of sexual tension.

But anyway, my girlfriend really likes Mario Party 8 and Pokémon (even though it's on the DS).

Well I'm sure he could find some dating sims to play by himself to help out >_>

Next time she comes over

lol, sorry i read that and laughed, no offence!
but you should be more confident in yourself man, entertain the girl, ask her about herself, find out what she likes and play on it!
cook her a nice meal, look confident! nice mood and all that, a film after the meal, just relax together
get to know the girl, keep meeting for different things, like the tennis, cinema, meals out!
I've been with my girl like 3 years, we occasionally play wii together, but I wouldn't have even considered playing the wii with her when we started dating!
obviously a slick move with the youtube, doubt many girls would enjoy that? i know mine wouldn't!

It's a nice save, honestly. My girlfriend likes to watch youtube videos when we're together just because she doesn't get to use it very much at her place. More importantly, though, it does give insight into what the other person likes, without a direct question, and it can spur conversation - but it shouldn't be used like the entire date.

Youre just nervous. Obviously you are if youre asking for help. I used to be the same way with the ladies, just give it a bit of time. Ease up. What i would do is get a tv show on dvd, like full seasons and just run through those. Usually a casually one like my name is earl. Something to laugh about but then make comments and start conversation.

Not sure if you cook, but thats always good. You cant expect to be having great conversation if you just met, you have to go out more. Eventually (if you work together) everything will come naturally, you wont even think about if you do or dont have something to talk about. The more you think about it, the more you worry and the harder it gets because then you start analyzing everything youre about to say and being hypercritical.

Forget it, gaming isn't really a girl thing. Just buy her some shoes or a nice bag and politely tell her to STFU cuz you've got a game of Mario Galaxy on the go!

Seriously tho, there isnt a woman alive that doesn't wish her BF would stop playing so many video games! I play games but my GF watches Soap Operas, we will never understand each other but that's part of the fun of a relationship. I often talk about the games I play to my GF too, and I know she doesn't get it, but she listens, just like I listen to her re-capping the Soap storylines I missed even though I would rather peel my eyeballs than know about the Soaps... It's just what you do, I suppose..

I'm clearly not a non-gaming girl, but do you know if she plays any Facebook games that have a particular theme?
Is she interested in Fashion, or Nature, or Puzzles, or Board/Card Games?

As much as I agree with those who've suggested alternatives to trying to game with her, I also think there's nothing wrong with treating her to something new that is within her interests. When I was younger, I had a couple female friends who never owned games themselves but wound up loving to play mine with me.

:wtf: I take it you've experienced one woman...ever, and are throwing her qualities on half of the Earth's population?

A lot of women game, and even more women respect gaming as a hobby for their significant other. Also, women won't shutup when you buy them shoes or a nice bag, they'll keep on going. (teehee) But seriously, that's just a blatantly sexist remark - not all women are even interested in that stuff; that's like saying all men are wannabe mechanics - I don't even drive!

And if you would rather peel your eyeballs out than listen to your girlfriend talk about something she likes...maybe it's time to move on

Another moron with no sense of humour. Take you cock out of your hand and get a hobby or something. Also learn to read... "would rather peel my eyeballs than know about the Soaps" doesn't say I would rather peel my eyeballs than listen to her talk...

The reason I mentioned my actual real GF is so I could point out the differences between ME and HER, not once, apart from the joke at the top, did I suggest women are only into shoes. It's you reading things into my sentence just so you could openly flame me to make yoursef feel big!

Go back to downloading porn will you and download yourself a sense of humour while you're there... That was a joke btw, you can't download a sense of humour!

Oh, and for the record... More women than you've had hot dinners. But let's not turn this into a masculine pissing contest, eh?

Pffhaha.
I do fear you guys may have misinterpreted my message, though I may have given a bad message from the start.

I may have slightly exaggerated the situation of "I have nothing to entertain her with."

It's moreso along the lines of, "If we're ever to play some wii, what'd be a good game?"

We've known each other since fall, and she's a fun person to have a conversation with. There's really no nervousness about it.

Ignoring my previous post, you have to ask yourself, when you're alone together and are chatting, do the silences between sentences feel uncomfortable?

If not, you're on a winner. If they do, don't worry about it. This girl wouldn't spend time with you if she didn't like you anyway.

There aren't any silences, actually. She's a diverse little thing, she is. We went to Chile's once and no lie, it took me an hour and a half to eat a hamburger and fries.
Part of me was mad, 'cause I wanted to eat the entirety of the meal when it was warm :

@SixtySixHundred
^_~ You'd be surprised. My boyfriend quit playing WoW a while before I did.. and I wanted him to come back, and he did, but only briefly. He still games for long stretches, but he has been playing RPG's for the DS one at a time. And Soap Operas are only entertaining from the comedic perspective, otherwise they're drivel. Try to have a sense of humor about it without pissing her off.. When it came to Soap Operas my mother loved and my dad laughing at them she stopped asking him to watch them with her..

@monkat
well said. in fact, there are women out there who would much prefer quality (planned, perhaps as a surprise, but well thought-out) time spent together. and by that i mean what other people have said- wine & dine or go for a walk to a trail she's never been to and have a picnic, etc.

about gifts:
there's kind of a sliding scale of how materialistic a girl is. on the lowest part she'll refuse a gift because that would incur a debt of guilt , on the highest part she is always entitled to be given a gift and it's fully expected. somewhere in the middle is a normal woman, who will accept a gift with gratitude and perhaps reward you in some other way.
the woman on the highest end will typically not care as much for the quality time if it's not the finest restaurant, because she thinks you're giving her less than she deserves. the woman on the lowest end will prefer the quality time more than anything at all. the woman in the middle will usually be pleased with either, but will remember the quality times with the same reverence with which she cares for the gifts you give her.

I don't think I misinterpreted your message, but you didn't answer my questions as I had hoped to help you as per your original post.
I just can't recommend any Wii games from experience because I don't own a Wii, but I can give you a woman's opinion of what a younger woman might prefer to play with you if I knew a little about her..

However if I'm not eligible to help you because I'm not a guy with a non-gamer girlfriend or Wii owner I'll show myself the door

I apologize for that.

But yeah. She's big into music, though. She says she had a PS1 and likes Crash Bandicoot. But other than that, she just doesn't game.
Movies, though, are her thing. And I actually have "Scene It"

And I believe you fit into the "Heck, fellows in general.."
Unless you're not a fellow then.
At least the door's green. Everyone loves the color green.

My favorite is Sinister Green.

anyways, I guess I'm more suited to sharing insight on women than specific Wii game suggestions, and at the moment i can't really explore further

Is she semi psychotic? You can find Manhunt 2 fairly cheap now

Seriously though, if she likes music maybe Rock Band would be a good choice. Or Guitar Hero. Or even DDR. But not Rock Revolution.
