Hardware Help with a Yowii solderless chip!

Ok, I can't take a steady picture to save my life... but trust me, the pins aren't cut.

I attempted to flash the chip on a completely different computer... different make/model/manufacturer...

Same exact results... down to the error code!

If anyone has ever flashed a Yowii, and would care to test mine, I would be greatful...

Ok I just looked up what the LED means again. You really could have found that yourself, it's in the YOASM readme.
It does stay solid and doesn't blink at startup, right? And it doesn't turn off when you insert a disc?

First of all YAOSM is correctly programmed. Otherwise the LED wouldn't lite up. So it probably can't synch with with the drive-controller, which means, that one of the points is not connected, which means a faulty Wii-clip. (they have a pretty high failure rate, no seller will tell you that ofcourse

)
Btw. I don't understand why you try to fix it yourself. You bought a chip that was supposed to work out of the box. It doesn't work: Just get a replacement.

so wait... because the WiiClip is broke, I cant flash my chip? The WiiClip has nothing to do with the flashing... so I really don't get what your getting at...

The chip is obviously flashed, since you bought it preflashed. Otherwise the LED wouldn't light up.
You probably can't flash it because the programmer doesn't ge enough power or something. happens all the time. But what does it matter, really? Just get a replacement.

TechSick is almost non-existent with their support right now, and with the US economy as it is, comming up with the cash right now for a replacement, after already paying out is a little hard.

Where exactly is this read me for the Yowii that you found anyway? I still love your reasoning... the chips flashed, it's just not getting all the pins on your chip... plus the programmer isn't getting power to flash your chip...

Have you never heard of Acoms Razor? It's the chip, not the clip, or the programmer... if you lived in the US, I'd gladly send it to you to test out for me...

If ANYONE in the US has experience with Yowii's with WiiClips, and can help, PLEASE!!!

sure I have. The simplest logical explaination is most of the time the truth.
The problem is that most people neglect the part about the "logical". The PIC doesn't send power to the LED-pins if it's not programmed, period! So simplest logical explaination is that your Wiiclip is fauty and you can't program the chip because it doesn't get enough power. Two very very cummon phenomenons.

And I never suggested that you pay for a new one. Just that you kick this techsick guy in the butt to send you a replacement. Tell him that you will spread through every wii modding forum, that he ripps people off if he doesn't send you a replacement. That should do the trick.

That would actually probably work. No company want to be known as a "bad retailer." I would give that a try, if he doesn't, then obviously you shouldn't buy from them.

Slowking, you obviously don't have a Yowii, nor can you provide any link to anything you've said...

Sorry, it turns out that one of our new staff members bypassed the checking process and also hadn’t programmed the chips.

There is no need to send back the chip you have there.

We will send you out a new one today.

The chip you have may not be faulty, but you may need to change some settings to get the current chip to program.

You need both the usb and the db9 cable connected to program the chip.

If you can give me as many details as possible about the problem you had with programming, maybe you can end up with 2 working chips.

But LEDs shouldn't lite up if the chip isn't flashed. so something has to be wrong with it. But well I guess it doesn't really matter anymore.

Just got the second Yowii... cliped it on, turned on the Wii, BLUE LIGHT!

So, I'll be selling off the one that only comes up green if someone wants it!
