Ran into a problem and am hoping to find help here.

I've been playing on sysMMC and decided emuMMC would be better. Repartitioned everything and attempted to reset to a backup I have, but it kept coming up with a "unknown pkg1 version." The backup was from before a system update, so that very well might be my issue there.
I went back to try and run sysMMC to see if that would work, but no dice. Ended up trying to reboot to RCM and nothing happened. Tried to reboot to OFW, and now my Switch won't turn on.
When put it on the dock, it lights up for a moment before turning back off. I think I can hear it whirring a little. Past that, nothing.

So far, I've tried:
  • Charging it (it's been ~18hrs so far)
  • Injecting payloads via both Rekado and JTegraNX (neither recognize the device, nor does my computer)
  • Entering maintenance mode (didn't even pop up)
  • Held the power button for 20–30s
  • Taking out the SD card & putting it back in
I did purchase this secondhand, so it very well might be a hardware issue. As I don't currently have tools to get into the device proper, I haven't been able to check that out. Haven't connected to Nintendo servers and had one NSP file installed. I'm aware there is a chance it's bricked; if it is, oh well.

I have my vital saves and such backed up, so I don't really care if a fix completely wipes the system. Thanks in advance for any help.

It might be your fan just briefly spinning.
Just remove the back cover to see if this is the case.
Coils can also make such a sound if something is broken in the power circuitry but since you were playing, I assume that is not the case.
If you remove the back cover, you can check if the sound comes from under the metal casing.

unknown pkg1 version usually means a version mismatch.
That old backup might just have been the cause.

Sometimes multiple issues occur at the same time like a malfunctioning USB port.
The Switch might actually go into the RCM mode automatically and therefore not booting into OFW.
Push power for 15 seconds to turn it off and then turn it on in a very dark room.
Your screen should be glowing faintly.

Tysm, man. Got things working again.
